Congratulations to Alta Vista Country Club’s Ricky Castillo, who will be competing for Team United States in the 11th Junior Ryder Cup next month! The 12-person team consists of some of the country's best junior golfers who are members of the high school graduating class of 2019 or younger.
Team U.S. will face Team Europe at Disneyland Paris on Sept. 24 – 25. The U.S. will look to continue its winning streak having captured its fifth straight Junior Ryder Cup in 2016 at Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minn. 10 players from that team are slated to be on NCAA Division I college golf rosters for the 2018-19 school year.
The Junior Ryder Cup boasts an impressive list of alumni including Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Hunter Mahan, Tony Finau, Lexi Thompson, Alison Lee, Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, Suzann Pettersen and Emily Pedersen.
Castillo made headlines last year when his brother, Derek, caddied for him at the U.S. Junior Amateur.
